Does anyone else make New Years Resolutions? I always thought it was common practice, then a few people I hung out with the other night for a NYE party were like, "I don't believe in that crap." BLEW MY MIND.
So what did everyone make that they want to do by 2012?
Mine: 1) Quit smoking cigarettes(of course I picked up the habit a mere 3 months ago >.>) 2) Get out there and meet new people 3) Reconnect with old but good friends 4) Date more 5) Get to my goal weight(getting so close!)

I've got a couple of 'em.
Uhm...
The first is one of the most cliche resolutions in the world. I want to get myself into shape. I /could/ stand to drop a few pounds, and I need to get myself into physical shape. A little toning up of muscles that have been in hibernation for too long.
The second is both in combination with the first, but also contradicting it. I want to feel good about myself. Regardless of my success with the first endeavor, I want to just feel good about myself. Because of my acne (and because I was a gymnast being pushed to have "the perfect body"), I haven't felt good about the way I look since... since I was too young to really think about that stuff. Soooo I want to change that.
The third is just to have a better outlook overall. It's going to be financially a really tough year. But that doesn't mean it has to be emotionally tough too. I'm going to try to not worry so much about the future. And I'm going to try to have a little more fun and not be so serious and everything. I think that will help my resolution number two.
The fourth is going to help my third resolution. You all know how Christmas is for me... Christmas is my holiday. I go all out. And it's when I do all my donations, primarily. Not because "I have to be good this time of year" but more because that's when all the really good donation programs come out. Well, my goal is to donate over three hundred dollars in books this coming Christmas. Every year, Barnes and Noble does a huge book donation. You buy books from their store and donate it to their cause. My family and I have been doing it every year since I was in elementary school. We usually donate about fifteen books or so. This year, we donated eighty dollars in books. We found a really cool shelf of biographies and wished we could have donated more (they all went to the children's cancer hospital locally). So I did the math and worked out a program where all I have to do is save ten bucks from my paycheck each week and I'll have collected nearly five hundred bucks by the time donation comes around again. Now, the smart thing to do is save a little bit of that to carry me through the tough times. But I'm gonna try to donate at least three hundred... if not the whole five hundred (my heart is too big, sometimes, and overrides my sense of being smart).
Those are my resolutions this year. A few things for myself, and something outside of myself. I guess I've got a lot of work to do this year.
Now remember, if you don't meet your resolutions, guys, don't be too hard on yourselves.
I don't know who said it, but: Goals written down are just dreams with deadlines.
Happy New Year everyone.

Your definitely going to achieve your goals, Gymmy! You made some good ones booboo. <3 Let's start an excercise routine together! Two miles of walking/jogging/running a day. Lower body workouts M/W/F/Su. Upper body workouts T/Th/S. I really do need to start hitting the gym again, though. I went and got one year membership to my area's rec center across the street and I haven't gone in like 3 weeks. Been sick and busy and really lazy. But I need to get back in there if I want to lose this last 80 pounds of dead weight. I know that is still a lot to lose, but considering where I started off...I've lost like 105 pounds so far. So I'm over halfway there. I'm wearing XL shirts now, instead of 3XL. WOO! And I got girls wanting to get with me, haha. Ego boost!

You both are going to do wonderfully-- you already have!!! I'm really proud of you Ariel!! Put new pics up on FB!! But my goals for the New Year: 1. Accept at the college I really want to go to (I'm conflicted.. I'll probably make a thread eventually) 2. Stop worrying about my future with Tom.. Especially since he cares about me, and wouldn't purposely hurt me 3. Manage to do well in my first semester of college 4. Actually work out and tone up a bit 5. Improve my eating habits, so I'm eating more, but eating healthier 6. Keep a positive outlook on life, no matter how down it is I'll probably have more later if I keep thinking about it

I'm trying to get pics from this past Saturday that this girl took of me at my friend's bachelorette party, but I dunno if I'll ever see those. But after this weekend I should have some new ones to post. Good luck with your NY Resolutions! You'll be able to do those, I know you will be. <3
