THIS WEEKEND WAS THE AMAZING AVON WALK FOR BREAST CANCER IN HOUSTON! A 2 day event where you had to raise at least $1,800. I raised $2,365 and got a special hat. I injured my leg really bad, but I pushed on for 5 miles the first day and was told to go to the hospital and that I couldn't walk the second day, lol. The second day I walked another 13.1 miles!! IM SO PROUD OF MYSELF AND THE NEARLY 1000 PEOPLE THAT WERE WITH ME THIS WEEKEND!!! 87 survivors walked with us. A 78 year old woman walked with us. Every three minutes a walker or crew member was given a large ribbon to wear for the rest of the weekend. I got mine on the second day from someone I met the day before. She found it in her tent and already had one and she kept it until she could find me and give it to me. I cried. The sombering part of this is that each of those ribbons signified people being diagnosed. Every 3 minutes someone is diagnosed with breast cancer and during our weekend 660 people were diagnosed. 140 breast cancer fighters lost their fight. Once again, I cried. Link to photos to come soon. I already signed up for next year. Walker #118 to sign up for the Houston one next year!
